In this first installment of Try-Day Friday we are making homemade lavender candles! This is a fun, relaxing activity that results in a bespoke gift that people actually use. Give it a try and let me know how it turned out!

Materials:
* Heat-resistant pouring pitcher (I use a 4 lb. aluminum one) - https://tinyurl.com/5xs9cd6n
* Old saucepan
* Glass Jars
* Cooking thermometer (I use a candy thermometer) - https://tinyurl.com/5k5fse52
* Soy wax flakes - https://tinyurl.com/6fjxjw4u
* Candle wicks - https://tinyurl.com/3bubbntc
* Fragrance or essential oils - https://tinyurl.com/u5sydbe4
* Chopsticks or centering device (to hold wicks in place) - https://tinyurl.com/3bubbntc
* Dried Flowers - https://tinyurl.com/96423jfn

Instructions:
1. Melt 1 - 2 lbs. of soy wax in the pitcher over a double-boiler setup with the saucepan. Heat to 185 F (85 C).
2. When the melted wax is at 185 F, add 1 oz. of your fragrance of choice. Remove from heat.
3. As the wax cools, place the wicks inside the 8 oz. jars, centering as best you can. Secure in place with chopsticks or centering device.
4. When the wax has cooled to 135 F (57 C), carefully pour it into the prepared jars.
5. Get creative! Add dried flowers.
6. Let the jars cool overnight. Before lighting your candles, trim the wicks to 1/4 inch.
7. Light and marvel at your handy work!
