Operation Makara 3: Peacekeepers Under Fire in Africa | October 2021

In October 2021, a patrol from the Long Range Reconnaissance Group was engaged by an enemy force whilst deployed on the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Mali. Whilst this engagement was small in scope, it marked the first time since the end of operations in Afghanistan in 2014 that British troops, outside of the Special Forces, had come under fire.
