Being In The Lord’s Army

Every born-again child of God is automatically drafted into the Army of our Lord. If it were not so, 2 Timothy 2:3 wouldn’t have told us to endure hardness as good soldiers of Christ.
Whether we know it or not, we are in a fight, in a battle, daily. The question is, are we fighting being a part of God’s army or are we fighting the battle being in a mob? A mob is different from an army.
A mob is a large crowd of people, especially one that is disorderly and intent on causing trouble or violence.
An army is a large, organized body of armed personnel trained for war. The training and existence of an army is for war. Why would God raise an exceeding great army in Ezekiel 37:10? To occupy space? No! But for war.
Both a mob and an army are a large group of people. One is disorderly and the other is orderly, organized. They don’t do things anyhow.
You and I should belong to the latter one- the Army. Not the army of any nation of the world, but an Army of the Kingdom of Heaven. How is that for a privilege and blessing!

What kind of war or battle are we fighting? We are not fighting wars with bows and arrows, shields and spears, guns and bullets, spades and machetes or nuclear bombs. These wars cannot be fought and won with the physical artillery or ammunitions present on earth.

2 Corinthians 10:4 tells us that “…the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds”. And Ephesians 6:12 tells us what our battles are against, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”.

Our battles are against the forces of hell. You can’t thrive as a genuine Christian without being in opposition against the devil, especially as the end of age draws closer and closer.
The battles we fight being in the Lord’s army are those targeted against our minds, our spirits, in realms unseen, in the non-physical world with our non-carnal weapons.

You know, one of the deceptions of satan is to make sure we believe he doesn’t exist. His intention is to make us see everything that happens in the world and to us from an intellectual eye and for us to give logical meaning to everything. As long as we keep it that way, the devil will keep gaining ground.

God has not left you and me without weapons with which to fight, because when planned battles come against you and me, we cannot wish them away. They will go nowhere if left unchallenged. We must engage them and bring them down with the weapons of our warfare.

What are the Weapons of our Warfare?
These are outlined in Ephesians 6:10-18.
1. The Belt of Truth
2. Breastplate of Righteousness
3. The Shoes of the Preparation of the Gospel of Peace
4. Shield of Faith
5. Helmet of Salvation
6. Sword of the Spirit- the Word of God
7. Prayer
