Bocconi. Italy. Europe. A tribute to Mario Monti. Highlights from the event
"During my third year, my Economic and Financial Politics professor, Ferdinando Di Fenizio, convinced me that reality could be transformed through the study and practice of Economics." These were the words of Mario Monti during the event "Bocconi, Italy, Europe" held to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the University and Monti's commitment to Bocconi and Europe. But they also represent one of our goals: to educate future leaders and critical thinkers able to have an impact on society and shape the future.
"Bocconi has always had a European vocation, [...] and its goal is to raise new generations of European leaders," said Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. "And you, Mario, have renewed and realized this European vocation," she continued, highlighting his lifetime commitment to European integration as an opinion leader.
"He is an extraordinary example of an economist, academic, as well as statesman, who left his mark during critical moments in the history of our country," added Sergio Mattarella, President of the Italian Republic. We thank him, along with all the other prestigious guests who attended the event.
We couldn't agree more with these words and we'd like to thank Mario Monti's distinguished service at Bocconi. Enjoy the highlights from the event.
