June 4th, 2011. In the semi finals of the Super Six World Boxing Classic, Carl “The Cobra” Froch faces 41 year old veteran Glen Johnson aka "Road Warrior" with the winner to take on undefeated 24(13)-0 Andre "S.O.G" Ward in the finals. Froch’s WBC World Super Middleweight Title is on the line; his 1st defense in his 2nd reign..

Prefight records; Froch 27(20)-1, Johnson 51(35)-14-2.

Back in February 2004, Glen Johnson won the vacant IBF World Light Heavyweight Championship via UD over Clinton Woods. It was Johnson’s 4th world title shot before he emerged victorious. His 1st world title shot goes way back to 1997 where he lost a TKO11 to the great Bernard Hopkins.

He successfully defended his IBF Crown for the 1st time by upsetting Roy Jones Jr via TKO9.

In December 2008, Froch reigned as the WBC World Super Middleweight Champion for the first time when he outpointed then undefeated 21(14)-0 Jean Pascal to win the WBC strap via a hard fought UD.

Froch then successfully retained his WBC title twice, and lost it to Mikkel Kessler in his 3rd defense in April 2010.

7 months after the Kessler setback (also his 1stpro defeat), he regained the vacant WBC strap with a convincing UD over hard hitting Arthur Abraham. Froch triumphed over Abraham with lopsided scores of 120-108, 120-108 & 119-111.

Going into the fight, the veteran Road Warrior had beaten notable oppositions such as Eric Harding, Yusaf Mack, Allan Green, Antonio Tarver, Richard Hall, Clinton Woods, Montell Griffin & Roy Jones Jr. The Cobra on the other hand had earned victories over the likes of Brian Magee, Robin Reid, Andre Dirrell, Arthur Abraham, Jean Pascal & Jermain Taylor.

From the early goings, Johnson and Froch engaged in an all in all intense battle that saw both fighters trade explosive blows for 12 rounds where each had their best moments in fight of tremendous ebb & flow. However, Froch is generally perceived to have arguably bagged the championship rounds after many closely contested stanzas.

Throughout the bout, Froch noticeably came back strong just about every time after Johnson connected with some meaningful blows which evened up the momentum earned by Johnson. After 36 minutes of boxing, Froch earned an MD with scores of of 116-112, 117-111 & 114-114.

This victory earned Carl Froch a place in the finals against the superbly skilled Andre Ward.

Hope you guys enjoy this highlight of a very exciting fight and be sure to SUBSCRIBE for more!

Muchas gracias, boxing heads.
