[교황레오14세] "부활하신 그분께서는 이미 여러 번 그분들을 용서하시고 당신의 여정에 거듭 참여시키셨습니다."

사랑하는 형제 여러분, 사도들의 무덤 앞에서, 곧 수천 년 동안의 회개의 목적지였던 이곳에서 우리 역시 거듭되는 회개의 삶을 살 수 있음을 발견합니다. 신약성경 역시 우리가 가장 위대한 사도들로 공경하는 분들의 죄, 오류, 반목을 숨기지 않습니다. 사실 그분들의 위대함은 용서로서 빚어진 것입니다. 부활하신 그분께서는 이미 여러 번 그분들을 용서하시고 당신의 여정에 거듭 참여시키셨습니다. 예수님께서는 절대 단 한번만 부르시지 않습니다. 바로 이것이 모든 이들이 항상 희망할 수 있는 이유이며, 오늘의 희년은 우리에게 이를 상기시켜 줍니다.

Dear brothers, before the tombs of the Apostles—destinations of pilgrimage for millennia—we too discover that we can live a life of repeated conversion. The New Testament does not conceal the sins, mistakes, and conflicts of those we honor as the greatest Apostles. Indeed, their greatness was forged by forgiveness. The Risen Lord already forgave them many times and invited them again into his journey. Jesus never calls only once. That is why everyone can always hope, and today’s Jubilee reminds us of this.
