Week Ahead in Washington: DHS Funding Vote, State Primaries & Congressional Baseball Game

Congress returns to Washington as the House looks to pass a bill fully funding the Department of Homeland Security. The Senate approved the 72‑billion‑dollar package last week in a near party‑line vote, using reconciliation to advance DHS, ICE, and Border Patrol funding. The bill now heads to the House.

Voters in four states — Maine, South Carolina, North Dakota, and Nevada — head to the polls for their primary elections. In Maine, Republican Senator Susan Collins is unopposed and is likely to face Democratic candidate Graham Platner in November.

On Capitol Hill, lawmakers gear up for the annual Congressional Baseball Game on Wednesday, a fundraiser for D.C.-area charities. Republicans aim for their sixth straight win.

Plus, President Donald Trump celebrates his 80th birthday Sunday with a planned, first‑ever UFC fight at the White House.
