1938 Tube Stock Heritage Train @ Embankment station

The London Underground 1938 tube stock Heritage Train passes through the southbound Northern Line platform at Embankment station.

This will be the last time that the train can travel on this route, as the Northern Line is about to be converted to a computerised signalling system with which the train will not be compatible.

===========================================

An oddity of this station is that the southbound platform is straight, whilst the northbound platform (not seen here) is sharply curved... there is a good reason for this. Originally the line ended in a loop below the Thames, and thats when the northbound platform was built.

The southbound platforms dates from when the line was extended towards Kennington.

btw, during WW2 the (then) closed loop was damaged and flooded as a result of an enemy air raid.
