Risking Everything To Find Ukraine’s 80,000 Missing | Give Me Back My Name

In this powerful one-hour documentary, RFE/RL war correspondent Maryan Kushnir follows the painstaking and emotional effort to identify Ukraine’s unnamed war dead.

Titled Give Me Back My Name, the film goes behind the front lines and into morgues, forensic labs, and family homes to document the search for Ukraine missing soldiers and other missing people whose fate remains unknown years into the war.

From battlefield recovery missions to the complex process of exhumation, investigators and volunteers risk their lives while recovering dead in Ukraine. Their mission: to identify dead soldiers, return remains to families, and restore dignity to the Ukraine war dead.

With an estimated tens of thousands still unaccounted for, the work of finding missing people has become one of the most urgent and emotionally charged tasks of the war.

This film bears witness to the people determined to put names to the unidentified — and to the families still waiting for answers.
