https://www.carvingthedivine.com/
Hosted by filmmaker Yujiro Seki, Carving the Divine TV is a series of Q&A sessions with Buddhist scholars and practitioners. These Q&A sessions explore the basic concepts of Buddhism and the history of Buddhism so that when viewers finally watch Carving the Divine they will get the maximum value of the documentary.
By now, I hope you guys have a taste of Buddhist traditions and history. By gaining perspectives from different guests, we truly appreciate the richness and complexity of Buddhism. In the study of Buddhism, we are often challenged to think differently and through the process we learn more about ourselves and the world around us. But, by all means, Buddhism is not the only religious tradition in the world. It is important to be aware of not only Buddhism but the religious traditions around the world.
In today’s Carving the Divine TV, we will try to apply what we have learned into what’s happening around the world. That’s right, we’ll be talking about religion journalism, its importance and the role of Buddhism there. We have Raymond Lam, a senior editor of Buddhistdoor Global, who is a perfect journalist to talk about this issue. Also, he will teach us how to look for Buddhist-related news through the great resourceful website: https://www.buddhistdoor.net/
We will be asking important questions such as:
What is religion journalism and why do we care about it?
What is Buddhistdoor Global?
What are some of your personal experiences covering Buddhism in religion journalism?
How can we navigate and find what we are looking for in Buddhistdoor Global Website and social media network?
What kind of stories are you are covering in August 2020, for example?
Raymond Lam is senior writer at Buddhistdoor Global and editor of its “Buddhism in the People’s Republic” project. Born in Hong Kong, he read religion and philosophy at The University of Queensland in Brisbane, and Buddhist Studies at The School of Oriental and African Studies in London. A Mahayana Buddhist layman since 2008, he became a religion journalist and began working for the Buddhistdoor organization in 2010.
