The old town of Kotor attracts with its white walls, centuries of history and narrow streets. It captivates with bright shop windows and a unique medieval atmosphere.
Every time I come to the city, I find something new in it, although its area is quite small - you can walk around it in 15-20 minutes.
Well, even in such a place there are many secrets that you will not learn about on standard excursions.
Mysterious slit.
The first secret can be seen right at the Sea Gate, through which most tourists enter the city. If you do not rush through them quickly, but linger in the arch, on the right you will see a wide horizontal crack in the wall. At first I thought that this was some kind of hole for letters. According to the version told to me, this slit led to the room where the city guard used to be. It was used in different ways, including for punishing petty thieves, whose fingers were cut off by sticking them through the crack. True or not?
