In Memoriam - Brass Quintet - ANZAC Hymn

Instruments left to right: Trumpet, Trombone, Flugelhorn (15mb playing the Tuba part), Cornet. + Bugle call in the middle.

11th November 2018 - Remembrance Day - has special significance this year. It marks the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War (1914–18). Hymns are beautiful on brass so I decided to record this to mark the occasion.

I know this piece of music only as "In Memoriam", an ANZAC hymn for voice (SATB). I have been unable to ascertain the original composer, and I have no sheet music - this was performed from memory. If anyone can shed any light, please comment!

When sung, the lyrics are a combination of a bible verse (John 15:13) and The Ode ("For the Fallen" by English poet Laurence Binyon):

Greater love hath no man that this,
That a man laid down his life; his life for his friends.

[Bugle call]

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
