Gurindervir Singh has become the fastest man in India.

At the 2026 Federation Cup, he created history by clocking 10.09 seconds in the men’s 100m race and breaking India’s national record. This made him the first Indian sprinter to run under the 10.10-second barrier.

But Gurindervir’s story did not start on a big international track. He comes from Patial village in Jalandhar district, Punjab. His father Kamaljit Singh, a Punjab Police constable and former national-level volleyball player, played a big role in shaping his early journey. From childhood, his father took him to the ground, made him practice running drills, skipping, and jumping, and personally supported his training.

Later, Gurindervir trained at the PIS track in Jalandhar under coach Sarabjeet Singh Happy, where his sprinting technique and explosiveness improved. In 2017, he won gold in the Asian U18 Championships, and in 2025, he broke the national record with 10.20 seconds. Now, in 2026, he has pushed Indian sprinting to a new level with 10.09 seconds.
