India detects six cases of mutated COVID-19 strain in UK arrivals

India has found six cases of a new, more infectious variant of COVID-19 in people who arrived from the UK. All six patients are in isolation, and their close contacts have been put under quarantine. The authorities are also tracking down their fellow travelers. India has suspended all flights to and from the UK until end-December. However, about 33,000 passengers had entered the country before the ban. Of those arrivals, 114 were found positive for COVID-19. India is the world's second worst-hit country, with over 10.2 million cases and over 148,000 deaths so far.
