Statistics and probability - F distribution and F-test

If the two random variables follow chi-square distribution with n and m degrees of freedom, then the division of these two random variables , F follows F distribution with n and m degrees of freedom.

F test is mostly used in comparing two population variance under null hypothesis they are equal. And the sample variance division f follows F distribution with n1-1 and n2 -1 degrees of freedom.
