Doug recorded this episode off the TV with his VCR. When I (Bret) visited Doug last summer, I recorded Doug's section using my Walmart special cheap cell phone. The quality was horrible.
Pete and I came to Vegas on Friday to celebrate Doug's 40th birthday. On Saturday, we got down to business with trying to finally get this video converted to digital. We happened to be at Tonya's friend Denise's house. Denise exclaimed that she has a VHS to DVD machine, so we did a test run of a 30 second clip of one of her home movies but found that it would have taken -many hours- to convert it, so we decided to turn to the professionals.
On Sunday, we googled video conversion in Las Vegas and the first result was A Picture Perfect Video (http://www.apictureperfectvideo.com). I called them and left a message. Then Pete and I decided to just convert it at Walgreens. We went there and the old guy working the photo counter walked us all the way through the process of submitting the tape. Right as we were finishing up the process to have the tape sent off (which would take about a month to get back), Paul from Picture Perfect called me back and said he could do it same day and it would only cost $18. Walgreens was going to charge 30. So we grabbed the tape and left.
We brought the tape to Paul today at around 1:30pm. He said the machine would record the video real time (28 minutes) and take only about 5 minutes to finalize! Pete and I left, did some shopping at Ross and came back at 2:30pm. The DVD was created successfully. After verifying it, we gave Paul $50 instead of the asking $18 because he was so quick and did such a great job.
I immediately copied the DVD to my laptop, while Pete and I sat in the car in front of Paul's place.
Only after we had copied the VOB files to two different folders on the laptop, a thumb drive and created a copy of the DVD, did we leave.
Later tonight, I converted the DVD to MPG and now I'm uploading it to YouTube.

A follow-up episode was made and aired soon after this one, but Doug doesn't have that one. It showed Rachel inviting Doug to her house to help -paint it-! Doug shows up and promptly gets drunk out by the pool. In the wrap up, Rachel explains that she will never go out with Doug -again-!

The original VHS tape was converted to a DVD by Paul at http://www.apictureperfectvideo.com at 1:30pm on Monday, July 22, 2013 in Las Vegas, NV.
The resultant VOB files were copied to my MacBook Pro (MD311LL/A, 17 inch, Late 2011 - OS X 10.7.6 Lion - ) using CloneDVD (by SlySoft).
The VOB files were converted to .mpg using Freemake Video Converter version (on VMware Fusion version 4.1.4) at 12:45am on July 23, 2013 at Tonya's friend Tony's house in Las Vegas, NV.
