The next reason is the excessive use of mobile phones and computers. Prolonged screen time on these digital devices has been linked to an increase in the prescription strength of glasses. Various research studies have found that extended periods of exposure to mobile phones and computers can lead to a significant rise in the number needed for corrective lenses or glasses, especially in children. This is a worrying development with long-term implications for eye health.
The third reason is reduced exposure to sunlight. Dr. Rahil Chaudhary explains that our body requires natural sunlight for overall well-being, including maintaining healthy eyes. In contemporary office environments, many individuals work in spaces with closed windows, limiting their access to sunlight. This lack of sun exposure is emerging as a significant contributing factor to the escalation in the number of people needing glasses. The scientific explanation behind this is that reduced exposure to natural sunlight can negatively impact eye health.
