Hardwire Installation of EcoSmart 8 with no Pigtail

EcoSmart has stopped including the incredibly convenient pigtail with their low-end tankless water heaters. In this video, I break the "warranty void if broken" seal and hardwire their tankless water heater as a direct one-for-one replacement of my friend's hot water tank.

The ability to wire the pigtail into a fuseless quick disconnect box made this the go-to device for Floridians, New Mexicans, Texans and Arizona folk who want to make the change to tankless, but they discontinued the built-in wiring which added so much safety and convenience. This saves EcoSmart less than a dollar on each unit, but Rheem and countless other tankless water heater manufacturers will take up the slack with the DIY earth-friendly community who want to reduce pollution and shave dollars off of their electric bills without having to deal with the esoteric details of electrical wiring.

Having to deal with even more exposed high-voltage electrical components and fearing the loss of warranty based on the poorly-worded sticker isn't a deal breaker, but it makes other manufacturers more desirable as they include the pigtail and don't require opening their devices during installation. My sincere hope is that EcoSmart brings back the built-in pigtail on their low-end tankless water heaters so that people like me can start recommending it to our friends again.
