Former Attorney General Pam Bondi submitted to a closed-door, unrecorded, not-under-oath interview with the House Oversight Committee today, and what happened inside that room tells you everything you need to know about where this investigation is going. Democrats subpoenaed her months ago for a sworn, on-camera deposition. Instead they got a voluntary session where two active Department of Justice attorneys managed her answers, blocked every question about the president, and argued the legal order from Congress didn’t even apply to her, while simultaneously using government lawyers to shield her. She wouldn’t answer questions about Trump. She admitted she never once spoke to a single survivor during her entire tenure overseeing this case. And when asked directly whether the president knew about Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes before they became public, she said, and this is her direct quote, “I’m not certain of the extent of his knowledge.” This is the woman who personally briefed him on his own name in those files. Meanwhile, the same week the DOJ declared there’s nothing worth pursuing in one of the largest documented trafficking cases in American history, it opened a criminal investigation into the nonprofit that helped fund the civil lawsuit in which a jury found Trump legally responsible for abuse. Todd Blanche, Trump’s former personal defense attorney across three criminal cases, is now the acting Attorney General running this entire operation. Not a single Republican showed up today besides the committee chairman. The committee has now run two unsworn, closed-door interviews on this case and produced zero legal consequences for any witness. The pattern started in 2008 and it hasn’t stopped. It’s only changed its paperwork.
