Nokia Delivers High-Capacity Network to India's RailTel

Nokia just announced it's completed an optical network upgrade for India's RailTel Corporation. This project covers both national railway lines and urban metro systems. The goal? To boost network capacity, improve resilience, and cut costs.

The core technology uses Nokia’s one eight three zero Photonic Service Switch platform. Think high-capacity Lambda transmissions and dedicated express lanes between cities. Plus, they're using Reconfigurable Optical Add-Drop Multiplexer devices.

The upgrade also leverages existing infrastructure, including unused spectrum. RailTel is also deploying Nokia's seven seven five zero Service Routers. These support high-speed data for enterprise clients and internal I S P services.

RailTel's C E O, Sanjai Kumar, calls it an essential step. The enhancements will help deliver better services. That's the RailTel optical network update.

Nokia completed network modernization for RailTel across India, deploying 1830 Photonic Service Switch and 7750 Service Routers for high-capacity data traffic.
