Fetal Growth Restriction (FGR). #studymedglobal

Fetal Growth Restriction (FGR) is a condition in which a baby in the womb does not grow to its expected size for the stage of pregnancy, most commonly because the placenta cannot supply enough oxygen and nutrients. It may also be related to maternal problems such as high blood pressure, infections, poor nutrition, or fetal and genetic abnormalities. On ultrasound, the baby’s weight and body measurements are smaller than normal for gestational age, and Doppler studies may show reduced blood flow. Babies with FGR have a higher risk of low birth weight, low blood sugar, breathing problems, preterm birth, and long-term health issues, so careful monitoring and timely delivery are very important for a good outcome.
