New Caledonia, Tahiti, Hawaii: an Ocean of Sailors
A young Oceanian in search of his roots discovers traditional cultures and new forms of maritime culture. It's all about exploring the past to better understand the present: thousands of years ago, in successive waves, his ancestors from South-East Asia gradually colonized the Pacific islands aboard huge double pirogues which, today, are rebuilt identically by enthusiasts in Hawaii or Tahiti. There's also the small outrigger pirogue, the favorite craft of Tahitian and New Caledonian lagoon fishermen.
