Blur - Entertain Me (The Live It! 7" Remix)

First two singles I owned back in 1995 were Disco 2000 and The Universal both on cassette. Both are indie britpop singles with remixes that are very of their time by Motiv8 and Live It! respectably. I must have listened to this mix 100s of time when I was a kid. It's imprinted in my mind.

Entertain Me (working title Bored Housewives) has always seemed like Blur's attempt at a darker sequel to Girls and Boys. Both have a circular chord sequence driven by a simple keyboard sequence. Both songs got the remix treatment for clubs, but where Girls & Boys was already a hit when it was remixed by the Pet Shop Boys into a huge club hit, Entertain Me was only an album track, so it seems it was never destined to follow Girls & Boys as a true club hit.

I've always thought that Entertain Me needed a 7" edit like Girls & Boys did. So that's what this is, while dated, everything I've cut out I actually really like, but in streamlining it into a pop structure a lot of the best stuff had to go, particularly the epic conclusion.
