Why the New Honda Prelude Falls Short at This Price

The 2026 Honda Prelude borrows its platform and powertrain from the Civic Hybrid, then adds suspension and braking hardware from the Civic Type R, tuned for comfort rather than attack.

The result is a genuinely refined coupe that handles wet roads with real confidence and delivers a chassis that rewards a driver who wants to string corners together rather than chase lap times. It is classy. It is composed. And it is absolutely 15 kilowatts short of what a $65,000 GT coupe should feel like.

The brakes are consistent and never fight with the regeneration. The ride is polished. But manual seats and grey cloth in the rear at this price point feel cheap and lazy. Honda has built something more than a Civic coupe here. It just needs the punch to back that up.At $60,000 this is a no-brainer. At $65,000 the answer is almost.
