Cisco Cloud Monitoring (Legacy) Mode – Offboarding Process

This video provides a step-by-step walkthrough for offboarding Cisco Catalyst switches from Cloud Monitoring Mode — the legacy, container-based version of Meraki cloud integration. This mode has since been replaced by the native Cloud Managed solution using Cloud-Native IOS XE, with two new operating modes: Device Configuration Source Mode (formerly Hybrid Mode) and Cloud Configuration Source Mode (formerly Cloud Mode).

Many production networks still have switches running in this legacy Cloud Monitoring Mode, and these devices must be offboarded before they can be re-onboarded into the new cloud-managed framework. This video shows you how to safely remove a switch from the Meraki Dashboard, monitor the cleanup process via the console, and prepare the device for upgrade and transition.

Note: Most switches in Cloud Monitoring Mode will also require a firmware upgrade to IOS XE 17.15.03 or later before they can be re-onboarded into Device or Cloud Configuration Source Mode. This video focuses on the offboarding step required to begin that process.
