Talk Africa: Why does Ebola keep coming back?

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is once again fighting an Ebola outbreak. The World Health Organization says the current outbreak has been caused by the rare Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus, for which no approved vaccine exists. Since the first cases were detected in eastern DRC's Ituri Province, Ebola has crossed into neighboring Uganda, heightening fears of regional spread and putting health authorities across the region on high alert.

Previously, the WHO declared the Ebola outbreak in the DRC and Uganda a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. This week on the program, we examine the current Ebola outbreak in the DRC and ask why it keeps coming back, and what urgent and long-term measures are needed to contain it. #Ebola #TalkAfrica
