Let’s talk renovations that don’t transfer well—because yes, they can absolutely devalue your home.

We’re in Central New York. Around here, we love our teams—Buffalo Bills, Syracuse Orange (Go Orange!). But let’s be real: turning your entire kitchen orange to show team spirit? That’s not going to be a win for most buyers.

Same goes for those super-specific man caves or basements decked out in Ohio State everything. I’ve seen them. Yes, they’re finished—but no, they don’t translate well when it’s time to sell.

Bottom line: if you're renovating, think resale. Personal style is great—just don’t over-customize in ways that limit your future buyer pool.
