Frank Ledwidge, a former UK military intelligence officer and currently a senior strategy lecturer at Portsmouth University, says an Israeli ground offensive in Gaza is likely to be brutal. Israel, over the past few years, has changed its military doctrine to take highly kinetic action at minimal risk, explains Ledwidge. But once Israeli troops enter the densely populated Palestinian enclave, they will face IEDs, booby traps and Gaza’s network of tunnels.
