In this video I'm going to be covering the new Glitch productions show "Knights Of Guinevere" Made by Dana Terrace as well as going over a few issues I had with it, what could be improved and ultimately trying to answer the question "Does KoG live up to the hype?"

Well it happened…

I’m not gonna spend a lot of time talking about my expectations for the show (I already made a whole video about that) check it out in the description below

But I finally got around to actually watching the pilot and I have A LOT to say.

For one it is a pilot so I’m not expecting everything to be perfect, there were obviously scenes where you could feel the budget restraints, and you had scenes similar to Grom fright where they justified the creative use of the budget to give us some epic scenes, like the one with the for lack of a better term colossus stabbing into the underground lab with our heroes still inside. Scenes like that are what make animation exciting, it's what you WANT to see out of a show like this.

Now let’s talk about… To me it felt really reminiscent of the undercity in Arcane, specifically season 2 and as a MASSIVE fan of Arcane that made me really happy. I love the steampunk aesthetic and the art in general was really good.

I do have some concerns as well. If you really look at it the timeline between the announcement of the show and the release of the pilot was EXTREMELY Short for a project like this and in my opinion it really does show, some parts are noticeably rushed and unpolished especially the voice acting which to me at least falls a bit flat although that can sort of be excused as the actors are still getting used to their roles it’s still a very noticeable thing. As someone who used to and does still write stories I understand that the pilot is the most important part of the series. Think of something like My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic Episodes 1 & 2, while not necessarily a pilot it fills the same role. We get introduced to the world, the characters and get a bunch of lore that is easy to expand upon. For example, what were the stars that helped free Nightmare Moon? Where did Luna get this dark power etc.

Obviously KoG has it’s own mysteries that have already been set up, however I feel like we didn’t really get enough characterisation for the two main characters, Frankie and Andi. And I feel like that is the biggest issue that the show is facing right now. However I am confident in Dana’s abilities as a writer. The Owl House is one of my favorite shows of ALL TIME to be fair, it’s safe to say that KoG is in some very capable hands.

Now onto the speculative part of this video… Do I think KoG will get greenlit for further episodes… Yes definitely looking at the Pilot’s performance when compared to the one for Gaslight District. It already seems to be doing way better and as Gaslight district is still in production I’d say it’s a pretty safe bet.
