Help your child learn to write the lowercase d the easy way with a memorable picture cue: a big, fat dinosaur bottom 🦕 (or a drum 🥁).

In this EYFS handwriting video, we focus on correct letter formation so children stop mixing up b and d and build confident early writing skills.

How to form d (child-friendly cue):
• Round the dinosaur’s bottom first (make the round shape)
• Up to his head (tall line up)
• Down to his tail (straight back down)

You can also use the drum idea to help children remember the shape and direction.

Perfect for EYFS, Nursery, Reception and Year 1, fine motor practice, phonics support, and at-home handwriting routines. Pause the video, air-write first, then try it with a pencil, whiteboard, sand, or a finger on the table.
