PV Sindhu 🇮🇳 - The First Indian Woman to win an Olympic Silver Medal! | Athlete Highlights

India's PV Sindhu was seeded ninth at Rio 2016. After dominating performances in the group stage against Hungary's Laura Sárosi and Canada's Michelle Li as well as in the round of 16 versus Tai Tzu-ying, Sindhu faced the second seeded, China's Wang Yihan, in the quarterfinals, whom she defeated in a thrilling battle to proceed to the top 4 players of the Olympics. In the semi-final, Sindhu beat Japanese Badminton star Nozomi Okuhara to secure an Olympic medal. Finally, in a close and intense Gold Medal game, Sindhu lost against Spain's Carolina Marin. Despite the loss, PV Sindhu created history. Not only was she the first Indian to become Badminton World Champion, but she also became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic Silver medal!
