Launch Comparison of Starship SN8 and SN9 after SpaceX High Altitude Test Flights

Watch both the SN8 and SN9 high altitude test flights side by side to see how the flights compare.

SN8 launched on December 9th 2020 and flew to 12.5km, SN9 launched on February 2nd 2021 and flew to 10km.

Starship SN9 successfully lifted off on three Raptor engines and progressively shut down engines until reaching a planned 10km in altitude. Starship then re-orientated into it’s ‘belly flop’ manoeuvre before the plan to reignite two Raptor engines for touchdown.

Whilst landing wasn’t successful, As this is a test programme, the flight itself was a success and information will be gleamed for the next launch.

SN10 sits awaiting the start of it’s testing on Launch Pad A which is visible in some shots.
