A fourth trip to the maternity ward for a 38-year-old mother - Newborn Russia (E19)
Complete series: https://rtd.rt.com/films/newborn-russia-series/
38-year-old Alla is mother to a large family of 3 children with a fourth on the way. Although she has plenty of childbirth experience, her doctors have warned her that the fourth labour can be very unpredictable. Meanwhile, 36-year-old Kristina is expecting her second child to be delivered by C-section. She is afraid of the procedure and goes from feeling depressed to hysterical. Despite this, she can’t wait to meet her baby. The pregnancy was planned and the parents are already deeply in love with their soon-to-be new family member. Although both parents have children of their own, this baby will be their first together.
Where do Russians come from? In modern Russia, life usually begins at state-run maternity hospitals; it is up to these medical establishments to deliver new babies into the world. RTd takes you inside the delivery room, where you'll meet expectant mothers, nervous fathers, and the men and women whose task it is to perform deliveries and face any challenges that stand in the way.
