Street Vendors of Old Mexico; Plantain & Sweet Potato Locomotive
According to this man, this tradition of a man pushing a Locomotive like contraption selling roasted plantain and sweet potato in the streets, blowing the vapor operated whistle dates back to about 170 years ago, weather truth or this being just what he heard, here it is.
There are few of those vendors still operating what is left of those “locomotives” but you still find them in the big cities of Mexico. This is Guadalajara, but I have seeing them in Mexico City also….
