UN sounds alarm over rising violence, humanitarian crisis in Sudan

A new report by the Office for the High Commissioner of Human Rights outlined a significant escalation of violence in Sudan, which continues to be dogged by conflict two and a half years after war broke out. The report captured over 3,000 civilian deaths in the first half of 2025, mostly in the Kordofan region and Khartoum, nearly 80 percent of the total civilian casualties recorded last year.
