Live Bug Fix: This video demonstrates the process of identifying and correcting a user experience (UX) bug in a web application's hashtag input form.
In this development session, I address a user experience (UX) bug within a custom content management application I'm building. The primary issue is with the hashtag input field. Currently, users must enter comma-separated tags and then explicitly click an "Add" button before saving the form. If this step is missed, the tags are not saved to the database. This behavior is inefficient and I classify it as a UX bug. The intended functionality is for the application to automatically parse the comma-separated string into a JSON array of tags upon form submission. Additionally, I'll correct a minor UI bug where the input's placeholder text incorrectly suggests using a '#' prefix. I walk through the process of diagnosing the problem, using an AI-powered code editor to generate the necessary front-end code adjustments, and then verifying the solution by testing the form and querying the database to confirm the data is stored correctly.
Chapters:
* 00:00 - Project Introduction
* 00:24 - Identifying the Hashtag Input UX Bug
* 02:00 - Writing a Prompt for an AI Coding Assistant
* 04:01 - Analyzing the AI's Unprompted Git Commit
* 04:39 - Live Test: Verifying the Bug Fix in the UI
* 05:00 - Database Verification of the Corrected Data
* 05:32 - Planning the Next Feature: Advanced Filtering
* 06:06 - Closing and Additional Resources
