300 march to PMO as Malaysian Bar demands judicial independence
Cries of “judicial independence” echoed through Putrajaya as hundreds of protesters, including Perikatan Nasional leaders and members of the Malaysian Bar gathered at the Palace of Justice before marching to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) this afternoon.
The 2.6km march began around 2:30pm, with over 300 participants rallying in defence of the judiciary’s independence.
Prominent figures in the crowd include former and current Bar Council presidents, former attorney-general Tommy Thomas, former Senate president Rais Yatim, as well as PN leaders, Takiyuddin Hassan and Wan Saiful Wan Jan.
