Healthy Volunteers in Clinical Trials
💊 Did you know that testing a new medicine starts with healthy volunteers?
All clinical trial participants help advance science and medicine, but healthy volunteers don’t get personal health benefits as patients do. They also often join clinical trials at the earliest stages of drug development, when we know the least about a drug’s safety. That’s why protecting them is essential.
We’re proud to be the first organization to endorse the Global Ethics Charter for the Protection of Healthy Volunteers in Clinical Trials, created by VolREthics, a global network of over 150 researchers.
The Charter outlines 15 key rights and provides clear, practical guidance for ensuring healthy volunteers are treated fairly and ethically in clinical trials worldwide.
📢 We call on all organizations involved in healthy participant trials to adopt this charter to ensure the highest ethical standards.
