Solo on Shasta: Where There's Smoke, There's Fire
It's early November and I'm headed to northern California to meet up with Edward Shin, JonDZ Adventuring, and many others. I've headed out a day early so I can do some solo exploring and camping along the way. Traversing lava beds, tracking down abandoned sites, and driving into way more smoke than one should ever see in the wilderness, before finally probing up primitive roads after dark hunting for a campsite.
Tune in next week for Part 2 featuring the Edward Shin meetup! Or you can watch Edward Shin's video of the event right now:

Michael Nicolas also made a video of the meetup:

And keep an eye on JonDZAdventuring as he will certainly be dropping a video from this event soon:

In case it was not clear in the video, Helian sent me the mini-cat light system at no charge to use and review. When I made this video, I was under the impression that the light strip/battery pack kit I featured came complete for $79.99. I've just found out that price is for the light strip only without the battery pack. It's actually $199.99 for the kit of LED strip + battery pack displayed in this video. Apologies for this misstatement. The opinions I expressed in the video are nonetheless sincere - I have genuinely enjoyed the product, and I was really happy to have this bit of gear in my car on this trip, it came in very handy in a number of ways. My apologies for my misunderstanding when I shot the video and stated the price incorrectly. My understanding is that the product line is still under development and the manufacturer is exploring creating a less expensive version of the kit.
