Tynemouth College (Queen Alexandra Road 6th Form College) - Demolition Continues - Update 2

The demolition of Tynemouth College (Queen Alexandra Road 6th Form College) continues in this latest update from North Shields.

Just days on from our last visit, the site has changed dramatically. Large sections of the college have now been brought down, with excavators working methodically to process materials and clear the footprint. From above, you can clearly see how quickly this once familiar landmark is disappearing.

This is modern demolition in action—controlled, efficient, and focused on recycling. Brick, concrete, and steel are being carefully separated across the site, ready for reuse, as the groundwork begins for the next phase.

Importantly, not everything is being lost. The listed front building will be retained and converted into apartments, preserving part of the site’s history while making way for the future.

🏗️ The site has been acquired by Lovell Homes and will be redeveloped into a new residential estate, featuring 47 homes along with landscaping and new infrastructure.

This is Update 2 in the series documenting the full demolition and regeneration of the site—from first strip-out to final build.
