Opposition Threatens Legal Action Against House Speaker and Senate President | TVJ News

Opposition Leader Mark Golding has threatened to initiate legal action against House Speaker Juliet Holness and Senate President Tom Tavares-Finson over the delay in tabling an Integrity Commission investigative report submitted almost two months ago.

Mr Golding sought a legal opinion from attorney B. St. Michael Hylton, KC, who concluded that there is nothing in the Integrity Commission Act preventing the tabling of an investigative report if that report is the subject of judicial proceedings.

That legal opinion has since been shared with the Speaker and the Senate President.

Mr Golding contends that the failure to share the report with members of both Houses of Parliament within a reasonable time undermines the provisions of the Integrity Commission Act.
