Let's try to understand LOG footage... PLEASE SEND HELP!

This is by no means a cientific or precise video, but a learning exercise.

We all have seen (and done) some log footage and some swipe transition to beautifully graded results. Then we're told to overexpose when shooting log to get the best or the most out of it. But why?

I just made a very simple test using color space transforms, and it helped me understand. Now, the bigger challenge is whether it will help you also or not!
