Mount Adams SW Chutes

The day after the Spring storm there was a weather window on Mount Adams. The forecast was calling for high winds but clear skies. I arrived to a wintry scene at the South Climb trailhead and slept through a frigid night.

At 2am I started my climb. I felt Winter's last breathe as the winds were howling around me, and I reached the summit just as it was starting to cloud over. I wasn't planning on skiing the SW Chutes because of avalanche hazards, but I made a last minute decision based on my observations. The top was heavily wind scoured, but the bottom half was protected and I finally got soft turns down the SW Chutes.
