Low G vs. High G - Ukulele Remix

How to tell the difference between Low G and High G.

Ukuleles have four strings, tuned G, C, E, and A. Most traditional ukuleles are tuned with a high G (reentrant tuning), using a G that is above middle C.

However for most of the videos posted on this channel, we use a Low G. This means that the ukulele is tuned G, C, E, A with the notes ascending in order from low to high.

You can tell if your ukulele is strung with a High G if the string that is closest to you when holding it (G string) is thinner than the one right below it (C string).

You can tell if your ukulele is strung with a Low G if the string closest to you when holding it (G string) is about the same size or thicker than the one right below it (C string).

If your ukulele is strung with a Low G, there are two types - wound and unwound. An unwound Low G will look just like all of your other strings (made of nylon or fluorocarbon). But a wound Low G will be wrapped in a metal coating, looking more like an acoustic guitar string.
