LIVE! “La Prisión de Folsom” by Los Tigres del Norte at the 32nd Hispanic Heritage Awards
Los Tigres del Norte paid tribute to Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues”. His son John Carter joined by his wife Ana Cristina Cash introduced the Mexican norteño legends during the Hispanic Heritage Awards.
The Hispanic Heritage Foundation’s 32nd HISPANIC HERITAGE AWARDS PRESENTED BY TARGET took place on October 1st at the iconic John F. Kennedy Center for The Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. The Awards, which were created by the White House in 1987 to commemorate the establishment of Hispanic Heritage Month in America, are among the highest honors by Latinos for Latinos and supported by 40 national Hispanic-serving institutions that co-host the program. The Awards recognize the contributions and accomplishments of leading Latino individuals and organizations in various fields while celebrating cultural pride and the great promise to America.
This year’s honorees included:

The Hispanic Heritage Awards for Film: Eugenio Derbez
The Hispanic Heritage Awards for Music: Alejandro Fernández
The Hispanic Heritage Awards for Sports: “Canelo” Álvarez
The Hispanic Heritage Awards for Leadership:
Sylvia Acevedo, CEO of the Girl Scouts of the USA
Alejandra Y. Castillo, CEO of YWCA USA
Virginia Kase, CEO of the League of Women Voters
Mónica Ramírez, Founder of Justice for Migrant Women
