Schattengrenzen (Eng. “Shadow Boundaries”) deals with inner ambivalence. Just like the shadows cast from several street lights at night time, different shadows can exist simultaneously within a human soul, not seldomly contrasting and contradicting each other. With this phenomenon as a point of departure a multi layered piano piece is constructed. Through dissimilar gestures, dynamics, registers and treatment of the pedals a piano sound of superimposed ideas emerges. (H. Ajax)
