KZ ZEX IEM Review | 1DD + 1 Electret Electrostatic Driver | How Do They Sound?

In this KZ ZEX IEM review I will show you the brand new KZ IEM that includes the first electret electrostatic driver! The KZ ZEX comes in 3 color options and a mic or no mic option for the cable. I will go over the specs, go up close to see the KZ ZEX IEM's in detail and then we will listen to some tunes and I will let you know how they sound!

The new #KZZEX in ear monitors are equipped with 1 dynamic driver and 1 electret electrostatic driver. This is the first KZ #IEM that has the new electret electrostatic driver. Normally electrostatic drivers require an amplifier and are more expensive than dynamic drivers or balanced armature drivers. But KZ has included something called an electret electrostatic driver which means that instead of needing an amplifier, the static charge is already applied to the diaphragm so there is no need for extra power.

The KZ ZEX #InEarMonitors have an aluminum faceplate and resin shells that are extremely comfortable. The ZEX fit nicely inside my ears and don't stick out too far. Because of the shape of the ZEX IEM I am able to wear these IEM's for a long time without my ears getting sore.

The KZ ZEX comes with a 3.5mm connector so it will plug into any headphone jack. If you don't have a headphone jack you can buy an adapter for your charge port or purchase a Bluetooth cable for IEM's which enable you to use your ZEX IEM's wirelessly!

The KZ ZEX IEM cable comes with a 2 pin connector sometimes called the C-Pin connector. This is a very stable connection via the two 0.75mm pins that insert into the ZEX IEM's. The cable is a silver IEM flat cable that is a big upgrade from the old twisted brown cable. This new silver IEM cable does not get tangled like the old twisted brown cable did so I am super happy with the new KZ IEM silver cable that is included with these IEM's.

The KZ ZEX tuning is definitely bass and mid forward with the highs pulled back. Compared to the KZ ZS10 pros they are a complete 180° as far as sound. While the KZ ZS10 pro IEM's are more heavy on the treble and light on the bass and mids, the KZ ZEX IEM is a lot more bass and mids with a lot less treble. This is nice as the ZEX IEM's do not hur your ears from the treble being so intense. This gives your ears a rest and allow you to listen to the KZ ZEX IEM''s for an extended period of time without fatigue.

Overall I like the sound of the KZ ZEX IEM's as the bass is super rumbly, the mids are forward and full sounding and the highs are just enough to keep things detailed and clear without making your ears hurt.
