Driver targeting e-bike riders MOWED DOWN ‘purely innocent boy’ instead

A 16-year-old boy who was mowned down and killed as he walked along a pavement by a driver who was targeting e-bike riders “loved life and loved people”, his father has said.

Abdullah Yaser Abdullah Taleb was an “entirely innocent boy” when Zulkernain Ahmed, 21, hit him, throwing him into the air as he drove down the wrong side of a busy Sheffield street in June 2025, police have said.

Ahmed was found guilty of murdering Abdullah in February by a jury which was shown graphic video footage of how the defendant’s Audi S3 drove at a group of riders on Staniforth Road, in the Darnall area of the city, knocking one over a hedge.

It then showed how the vehicle ploughed into the teenager, also known as Abdullah Yaser Abdullah Al-Yazidi, who could be seen throwing and catching a water bottle as he walked along the pavement moments before the collision.
