Trams in Galati, Romania | Trams in Romania - Episode 4 | 2018

The length of the tram network in Galati, a city located in the south-east of Romania, has been reduced drastically by closing multiple routes since the 1990s. As of 2018, it consisted of four lines running on 13 kilometers of double-tracks. The line 41 to the industrial district has been closed shortly after these recordings. Due to missing connections at the central transfer stop "Piata Energiei", the lines 7 and 44 had to take a detour via the "Viaduct" loop. Fortunately, this will no longer be necessary once the completely rearranged crossing is opened. The remaining three tram lines were closed for modernization as of 2019.
In 2018, the rolling stock consisted mainly of Duewag ZGT6 trams, which came here from Rotterdam, Netherlands. The last Tatra KT4D cars from Berlin, Germany were in use until 2019. Once the network reopens, it will mainly be served by modern low-floor trams.
