How to color a drawing in Photoshop with gradient maps

In this photoshop tutorial, I am going to show you one way I color my drawings to make them look more like painted illustrations. I'm showing the whole process from start to finish. I'm using Gradient Maps in Photoshop to add the bulk of the color.

What is a Gradient Map?
In Photoshop, a Gradient Map is an adjustment layer that maps the tonal values (shadows, mid-tones, and highlights) of an image to a chosen gradient, effectively applying color to those tonal ranges.

I also show you how to add some 'secret sauce' to a colored drawing to give it some punch and really make it 'pop'. This secret sauce will enhance any image or photograph, not just drawings and illustrations. It even works in other image editing packages besides photoshop, like Krita, Gimp, Affinity Photo, Corel Draw etc.
